The Super 66 were recommended by Don Lindich, a successful national columnist, who said that “Compared to $300 Beats headphones, the Super 66 sounds better.” Given this recommendation and all the excellent reviews that headphones receive online, no wonder we are so interested in testing them.

Design and Build Quality

We won’t lie: there’s something about the combination of brushed aluminum with a futuristic design that speaks to our aesthetic sensibilities. The Super 66 manage to pull it off perfectly. The construction of the headphones is lightweight and portable. The joints retract, fold, and rotate – all in the name of easy portability.

Your head and ears will feel like in heaven thanks to the generous use of memory foam padding and premium leather. Listening for long hours during a single sitting is not a problem.

The right earcup features a total of 5 buttons that are used for phone call and music playback control. They look fantastic but are rather hard to navigate. You need to remember their layout and careful run your finger across the earcup to feel when one button ends and the other begins. Fortunately, you will eventually get used to it, but be prepared that it can take a few weeks.

We like the ability to plug in any 3.5mm audio cable and turn these Bluetooth headphones into a wired pair. That can be handy when you finally drain the otherwise respectable battery to zero.

Sound Quality

The manufacturer promises distortion-free audio even at the highest volume level. Although you probably will never listen to your music at maximum volume, it’s still nice to know that the headphones, indeed, remain free of any distortion.

The sound of these headphones is tuned for maximal enjoyment. This is apparent by the strong, deep bass and emphasis on mids. If bass is not your thing, you will still be able to successfully customize the sound using an equalizer in your smartphone. Taking the 100 Hz frequency band down a few notches tames the wild bass and makes the headphones suitable for people who are not fond of heavy bass.

Similarly impressive is also the passive noise isolation, which makes these headphones work great for travel, studying, or gaming in the same room as is your roommate. The same applies for sound leakage.

If you ever get interrupted by a phone call, you can leave your smartphone where it is and just press a button on the headphones. The built-in microphone does an excellent job of picking out your voice and leaving out all the unwanted background noise.
